I used to be quite a big fan of Kepler a few years ago, but since devouring everything I could find by the Swedish couple gave up hope of ever finding any more, but to my satisfaction and general gratitude towards the West Lothian Library staff at Carmondean, I found this and took a chance on it again.
Some of Kepler's scenes can be very graphic and upsetting, as the horrific psyche of the villains is usually explored in depth, often resulting in being in a constant state of anxiety throughout.
But I was glad to be able to carry on where I'd left off with Detective Joona Linna, thumbing is nose at authority and trying to keep his family together while going about his business of tracking down serial killers and rescuing young women, dispatching their captors in interesting and gruesome ways.
I sped through this in about three days during the October break, and once I'd finished felt a bit bereft, as if I'd been kicked out of a party that I hadn't wanted to leave.
I suppose I better try and find another one.
5 Stars, but not for the faint of heart.
